Top Ten Recent Christian Books Added to My Shelves

My bookshelves are overflowing. My son walked into my office slash hobby room and asked, “What are you going to do when you cannot shove any more on there?” I pointed to a bag and said, “I am giving the ones I have read to friends.”

Despite this dilemma, I still find myself gaining more and more books. The titles below are the ten most recent additions to my shelves and the ones I am currently most excited about. Some are because I am on a nonfiction kick, some just spoke to me, and others are because I cannot control the fact that Harlequin sends me the best deals. My love of Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense runs deep (yes, that’s a lot of love). Besides, it is not like I am doing anything immoral. Or maybe I am. We will see after my covetous heart reads the two theology books below.

In our fast-paced world of outrageous headlines and knee-jerk reactions, we struggle to hear God’s voice amid the noise. Despite constant connectivity, our lives lack true spiritual connection and depth.

A. J. Swoboda and Nijay Gupta offer a practical theology guide for building resilient faith through Christian discipleship. Addressing spiritual deconstruction and doubt with honesty, they show how to fortify your faith against cultural challenges through eight transformative spiritual practices, including:

● taking your time in prayer and Bible study,
● building patience for your spiritual journey and faith formation,
● slowing down your thinking and decision-making process,
● finding peace with unanswered questions rather than demanding easy solutions, and
● facing spiritual difficulties head-on instead of avoiding them.

This Christian living book helps weary believers reconnect with God and neighbor through intentional spiritual growth. With a foreword by Glenn Packiam, it’s perfect for devotional reading, small group study, or anyone seeking authentic faith formation.

Along the way, she may just learn that appearances count for naught. . .and that love can be found in unexpected ways.

Trusting in God’s goodness even if He says no, not right now, or not this way.

When we have good dreams—dreams that seem in line with the heart of God—it can feel devastating to watch them die. Why doesn’t our God, who is all-powerful and all-loving, fulfill our good desires?

When Dreams Fall Apart addresses the disillusionment many feel when God seems silent to prayers and longings. Through powerful biblical teaching and personal narrative, Jennifer Lucy Tyler helps readers encounter a God who is worthy of our hearts and our trust, even when the answer to our prayers isn’t what we’d hoped.

Readers are invited to observe the moments in scripture when people cried out to God, but His answer was delayed or different than they’d expected. And Tyler shares her own grief, anger, and disappointment when she felt unseen and unheard by God. Together with Tyler, readers learn to name and lament their unanswered prayers, and they discover pathways to resilient hope, faithful contentment, and triumphant joy.

Unanswered prayer is not a sign that you’re doing something wrong or missing God’s call. Tyler helps us experience the peace of knowing that God is close in our pain and working in beautiful—often unseen—ways in our lives.

I’ve been chastized my by youngest one for having too many books. Yet for Christmas, she gave a book from my wishlist. It’s funny how that works out!

Too many! I’m not sure why I keep adding to my physical shelf. I recently redid my GoodReads want to read shelf to only include physical books in my home. I’m hoping that looking at it will keep me from getting more.
