My Thoughts

I am loving this Bible. First of all, it’s the word of God, but I am really finding so much joy (and peace) in the daily devotionals and peace notes. My favorite peace note so far is “When Scripture and your feelings disagree, first bring Scripture’s truth over your life, and then start walking in the direction of Scripture. Let your emotions catch up. Genesis 3:1”.

The leathersoft cover is so pretty and embossed with a mountain scene. It’s so soft and smooth and easy to hold, especially since I’m on the couch in my PJs type of Bible reader and studier. Normally, I purchase Bibles with a larger font but the 9.5 point font is truly easy to read with the Comfort Print as long as you do not have significant eyesight challenges. My husband, who is slowly losing his eyesight, cannot read the print and he’s been disappointed because he also loves the way the Bible looks and feels. The gilded edges do leave it looking beautiful.

I also really like that there are two ribbon bookmarks. I like to keep one on the next devotion and the other where I left off reading, or if the devotion and where I left off are in the same spot, I put it on the Topical Index of Devotions. If you wanted to, you could read the devotions by topic and then date the devotion when it’s done. I tried a Pigma Micron on one of the pages and there was very little ghosting. The thickest size I tested was a 03. I wouldn’t recommend going above that due to the fact that the pages are your standard thin Bible pages.

This is a NKJV Bible. Typically, I read the ESV but whenever I’m studying in-depth, I look at multiple versions so the NKJV is great to have on hand. I’ve already read the ESV version of the Bible multiple times so I’m looking forward to reading the entire Bible in NKJV this time. The book introductions are helpful and brief, providing a quick overview but not overwhelming with information since this is a devotional Bible. There are three full-color maps in the back, and the devotionals are indexed both by topic and by book. It also has a concise concordance in the back which is handy if you are taking the Bible to church or to a study.

I’m really captivated by this Bible and look forward to spending the next year in it.
