Review
Thoughts: This is a fun read that will bring a smile to the mom or grandma in your life. It’s packed with lovable characters and set in a charming town.

Something is brewing in Raeburne’s Ferry, Georgia–and it’s not sweet tea.

In a small town where gossip flows, bedridden Mary Ruth McCready reigns supreme, doling out wisdom and meddling in everyone’s business with a fervor that would make a matchmaker blush. When her best friend has her world rocked by a scandalous revelation from her dying husband, Mary Ruth kicks into high gear, commandeering the help of her favorite granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth, in tracking down the truth. Finding clues in funeral condolence cards and decades-old gossip dredged up at the Blue Moon Beauty Emporium, the two stir up trouble faster than you can say “pecan pie.”

But just when things are starting to look up, a blast from the past waltzes in with an outrageous claim. But as Grandma Ruth always says when things get tough, “God is too big.” With him, nothing is impossible–even bringing long-held secrets to light. Grandma Ruth and Sarah just might have to ruffle a whole mess of feathers to do it.

Thoughts: Amy Clipston is an excellent author! If the mom in your life loves Amish romance, this book is a perfect pick.

An unwed Amish woman yearns for real love and a family. The only thing in her way is the shame she’s been carrying for half of her life.

Thirty-one-year-old Carolyn Lapp has never been married—but she’s been a mother for fifteen years. In a community with strict standards and a long memory, Carolyn knows she might never find a man who will have her and her son, Benjamin.

Carolyn’s family tries to marry her off to a widower with a daughter who needs a mother. A marriage of convenience doesn’t sound so bad, yet despite her loneliness, Carolyn knows what she really wants: a traditional Amish family and a marriage for love.

When Benjamin gets into trouble at an auction, he finds himself beholden to a handsome horse breeder named Joshua Glick. Joshua and Carolyn feel an instant attraction, and soon a romance is budding between them. The trouble is Joshua believes Benjamin is Carolyn’s nephew, not her son.

After years of shame and loneliness, Carolyn suddenly has two men vying for her attention. Can either man give her the family—and the unconditional love—she longs for? Or will her past once again sabotage the future she wants?

The Mother’s Day Bargain by Martha Fouts
Narrated by:  Lisa Lynn Sandlin
Publisher: Independent
Publication Date: April 7, 2025
Audiobook Price: $10.95
Purchase on Amazon
Review
Thoughts: This is a wonderful book, and the audiobook narration is fantastic. Just be sure to choose the format the mom you’re buying for loves most. If you really want to spoil her, consider getting the entire series, including The Mother’s Day Letter and The Mother’s Day Tea.

Their moms only asked for one thing for Mother’s Day . . .

“Sounds like our moms are cooking up a scheme for Mother’s Day. Did Evelyn tell you to bring a date and if you didn’t, she could set you up?”
“What? Yes, did Lois give you the same challenge?” The two old birds must’ve come up with the idea over a pot of their chamomile tea.
“Yep, of course she offered it up with a big dollop of guilt on top so I couldn’t refuse.”
“Lois resorted to guilt? That’s not usually her style. I think maybe my mother has been a bad influence on your mother. Maybe we should treat them like two kids who can’t get along and separate them?”
She put her hands together and wiggled her fingers deviously. “I say we turn the challenge back around on them.”
She spoke as if she had a plan, and for a minute, Gabriel thought she was going to propose they go together. He almost wished she would. What if they could pretend like the past never happened, that they’d just met each other and could go on a date like normal people who had feelings for each other?

If you love small town romances that point people to Jesus, then you will love The Mother’s Day Bargain, and you’ll also love The Mother’s Day Tea and The Mother’s Day Letter.

I used to gift my mom books for her birthday or probably Mother’s Day too. But she only reads on a Kindle now (when she reads, which I don’t think is as often now), so I had to gift her things that are among her other interests. But I always appreciate some good book inspiration for occasions like Mother’s Day! :) Thanks so much for visiting my TTT list last week. Apologies for not visiting here until now.
