2024 Must-Read Books I Haven’t Read Yet

As I sit here, looking at my shelf full of books published in 2024 that I was so eager to own but still haven’t read, my heart aches just a little. So many hopefuls are crying out, “Read me, Carla! Please pick me up. Ignore the book you just got in the mail.” But, alas, it hasn’t happened yet.

I want to read all of these by the end of 2025. Some are by favorite authors, others caught my eye because of my deep love for Amish romance, and some have those historical tropes that I find so dear. So, yes, dear reader, I hope to take every one off the shelf, curl up on the couch with a throw and a cat, and read to my heart’s content.

Me too! For Lent, I’m giving up requesting ARCs of any kind. While I won’t see the impact of that during Lent, I will after. Hopefully it’ll give me the opportunity to read some or maybe even all of these.

I am very guilty of collecting books and then not getting to them yet 🙃 Especially if I end up getting other new releases from the library/reading them instead “since they have to go back” … this is a huge reason I actually want to use my library less this year: so I can catch up on my own shelves!

Big ones from 2024 that I really must read include: The Spellshop; Pride and Prejudice in Space; A Novel Love Story; A Murder Most French; and Teller of Small Fortunes

I haven’t checked out anything from the library in months and still can’t catch up. I find the cover and what others have said about Teller of Small Fortunes interesting. Maybe one day when I catch up on what I already have, I’ll read it.

Looking at them all, I think I would start with The Burning of Rosemont Abbey and follow with What I Left For You. But they all look good. I have a pile of bestsellers from last year and from years ago that I never got around to when they came out. I definitely want to get some of them read before I start in on the ones I have acquired more recently. Finishing a book and heading to the bookcase to choose my next read is like a trip to the candy store though, lol.

I love your thoughts on the trip to the bookcase! It is definitely fun. Especially when we can pick out a book based on our mood.
