Eight Fall Amish Romances to Keep Winter at Bay

I am not ready for winter and despite the cold temperatures and the reports of snow in some areas, I don’t need to officially recognize it until December 21st. Until then cozying up with some fall and even Thanksgiving themed reads sound like the perfect idea. And, you all know me, I love all things Amish romance so here are eight books I recommend we all put on our TBR…

Catherine Lapp doesn’t have time for a romantic relationship. Her parents fled her Amish community and left her to tend to her ailing grandmother who suffers from dementia. Often embarrassed by her grandmother’s off-the-wall behavior, Catherine mostly stays to herself.

When an unseasonal winter storm sends visitors to Catherine’s farmhouse for shelter, she has no choice but to take them in as borders. She is rattled by the unexpected company who witness her grandmother’s odd behavior right away. But instead of judgment, her new friends not only help her with her grandmother, but they provide an opportunity to learn what real unconditional love can be–both romantically and through friendship.

As two romances blossom, Catherine finds hope in her circumstances, and an opportunity to have the Thanksgiving she’s always wanted.

Reeling from an unexpected betrayal, can Sylvia find relief from the echoes of her past…or will they shape her future forever?

Although Sylvia Fisher recognizes that most Old Order Amish women her age spend their hours managing a household and raising babies, she has just one focus—tending and nurturing the herd on her family’s dairy farm. But when a dangerous connection with an old beau forces her to move far from home, she decides to concentrate on a new start and pour her energy into reviving another family’s debt-ridden farm.

After months in rehab, Aaron Blank returns home to sell his Daed’s failing farm and move his parents into an easier lifestyle. Two things stand in his way: the father who stubbornly refuses to recognize that Aaron has changed and the determined new farmhand his parents love like a daughter. Her influence on Aaron’s parents could ruin his plans to escape the burdens of farming and build a new life.

Can Aaron and Sylvia find common ground? Or will their unflinching efforts toward opposite goals blur the bigger picture— a path to forgiveness, glimpses of grace, and the promise of love.

As a widow with two-year-old twins and a struggling orchard, Rebecca King’s dreams of expanding her business seem near impossible. To make matters worse, a troublesome string of destructive acts around Promise Glen threatens her roadside fruit and vegetable stand, forcing Rebecca to accept the help of her condescending new neighbor, Nathan Mueller.

Nathan didn’t intend to offend Rebecca with his offer to share the stand, especially since he’s a widower and single parent himself. He admires Rebecca’s strength and kindness in the face of adversity. If only they hadn’t started off on the wrong foot…

Despite their best efforts to shield their hearts, working side by side through the busy harvest plants the seeds of a budding friendship. But when the vandalism spreading through Promise Glen escalates to arson and rumors blaze through the town, they’ll have to learn to rely on each other more than ever. As Thanksgiving approaches, Rebecca and Nathan are forced to reconcile with their own grief, forgive what can’t be changed, and come to truly understand the core values of the holiday: love and gratitude.

The past filled her mind even as her heart yearned for stories yet to be told . . .

The mother of ten and a widow of seven years, Mary Katherine is a bundle of energy, always willing to step in and help her friends around her Amish community. Now that her last child is married, she pours her abundant creative spirit into writing stories, even as she speaks aloud to her late husband every day. Her dream is to open a bookstore with an English friend, but the church elders want this wayward widow to work in an Amish-owned store instead. When her old school friend, Ezekiel, offers her a position as a cook in the restaurant he opened after his wife died, she knows she should accept. But does she really want to spend her time working over a hot stove?

When a mysterious English stranger breaks into her house to make himself a sandwich one autumn night, Mary Katherine doesn’t call the sheriff. She turns to Ezekiel. They both see that Burke is need of more than a meal, and Ezekiel offers him the job at the restaurant.

As they set out to care for their new friend, Mary Katherine and Ezekiel find themselves often working together. Mary Katherine is drawn to Ezekiel, but she remembers the terrible risk of giving her heart to someone. Can two people in the autumns of their lives and so well-versed in the pain of loss put the past behind them and trust in the hope that comes with each new season?

I am NOT ready for snow and winter either! It’s NOT my season. Way too cold and I don’t think I like the season for a host of reasons. I’m WAY more of a late spring/early summer girl when the weather is, for me, quite ideal. :) Thanks so much for visiting my Top Ten list on this last week.

Agreed! I’d also add in early fall. Basically anytime the temperatures are on the 70s to low 80s.

I know that Amish romances must be popular because so many people read them but it’s so hard to find people that love them as much as I do. Unless I’m on Facebook but I’d rather not be.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well!

I also don’t recognize that it’s winter until the solstice! Having said that, Christmas reads have been bringing me joy for the past few months. Great collection of Amish reads.

I do agree with all of this, though some days I’ve had to pull out the gloves. Ugh! I think Christmas reads are for any time. Just like the decorations. For years I kept my Santa’s out all year round. Then people started buying me red ho,e decor so I had to stop.

Even though I don’t want winter weather yet, I’ve been reading Christmas books for months. I think my temperament is more suited for a Florida winter than a Midwest one.

Not me, I love having all four seasons :) Probably from years of not having all four. We lived in Singapore for 3 1/2 years and it was summer year round.

Welcome to Carla’s Book Crush where I share my favorite clean, Christian reads. I review everything from Amish and historical romance to suspense, contemporary fiction, nonfiction, and the occasional devotional. If it has heart, hope, and a message that points back to Christ, it’s probably on my shelf. I also love chatting with authors and featuring interviews that give you a peek behind the pages. Whether you’re looking for a new release, a cozy weekend read, or just something uplifting and well-written, you’re in the right place. Clean stories. Encouraging faith. Books worth reading.
