The Sunday Post #8: Falling Behind

Can you fall behind with a hobby? I think you can, which is why I try not to give myself deadlines. Three posts – The Sunday Post, Top Ten Tuesday, and one book review is about all I can do. But last week, I promised more and ….well, sigh, I did not deliver. So I’ll try to remember my boundaries going forward. I would say, you live, you learn but then I always want to add “and then get Luvs” because that commercial is ingrained in my brain forever. No, I never used Luvs.

A follow up to last weeks question “does my sister read my blog?” It turns out yes but… Last Sunday she called me and brought up the fact that I hadn’t sent out my Sunday post. I had. But I couldn’t stop snickering about the fact that she didn’t think I had. She frantically started looking for it but couldn’t find it. I finally read to her what I wrote and she said that I should give her credit for reading the post. I am. She was able to tell me everything about the previous weeks content because that’s how our conversation started, with her asking questions based on what she had read. So, yes, dear blog readers, my sister does read my blog.

Ten Amish Romances with Barns on the Cover: One would think finding ten Amish books with barns on the cover would be easy—until you try it. With the added challenge of not repeating authors, I nearly settled for “Ten Books with Words on the Cover.” So, why barns, and what made the final list? Read to find out.

Their Inseparable Bond by Jill Weatherholt: Jake, a 50-year-old widower father, raises twins Kyle and Kayla in Bluebell Canyon, supported by Myrna, their cherished grandmother figure. With her eyesight failing, Olivia, Myrna’s granddaughter and an ER doctor, comes to help and convince Myrna to move to Miami. Olivia’s desire for Myrna’s well-being clashes with the town’s devotion and the twins’ fear of losing her. As bonds grow and emotions run high, will Olivia’s plans change? Will she fall in love with Bluebell Canyon?

I think it’s definitely possible to fall behind with a hobby as sometimes life just gets in the way. I also don’t give myself too many deadlines and try to feel okay with myself when I don’t make those deadlines either. A hobby should be fun, not stressful :)

So fun that you sister reads your blog!

I always have self-imposed deadlines in my head. Or some sort of list with way too many to-do’s on it. It’s just my personality.

      She’s a good sister. I think I’ll keep her!

I don’t give myself deadlines for my blog. Sometimes I just don’t have the time and that is ok. :) Well, I do make sure I do the Comfy Cozy Cinema on time but that is it. Lol. Normally I don’t though. Hobbies should make you happy, not stressed about timelines. :)

I agree with that but my personality is not always as good as with the flow as I’d like it to be.

I went through a phase where I binge read mail-order-bride stories and amish tales. So glad your sister reads your blog. Mine do not.

Mail-order bride stories sound interesting. I had no idea they were a thing.

People always tell me they read my blog, and I think a few people in RL who love to read actually take a look at it now and then. You had fun with the post last week!

I set a goal to post once a week when I started, and, so far, I have. I sometimes squeeze in a few more posts, and that feels like a bonus.

Lovely that some RL people take a look at your blog. My sister does read The Sunday Post.

Yes, I sometimes think I need to scale back my post but I really enjoy participating in the Sunday linkups and Top Ten Tuesday. The reviews are because I enjoy helping authors out. It surprises me how many of my favorite authors work full-time. I always pray it’s because they want to and not have to because they are so good at their craft.

Lol, I love the calling your sister out! None of my family reads my blog, but that’s fine. I am behind on reading, but I also cut way back on review books this month, so I’m okay with taking a little longer. Hope you have a good week!

I’ve blogged in the past. Typically friends and family are the last one to read, unless it’s a very personal blog. Then they want to know! I haven’t requested anything from NetGalley in awhile because I need to get the five that are hanging out there completed before they archive.

Sometimes life’s demands make it difficult to squeeze out time for our hobbies, but the hobbies (reading, writing, puzzles) are what make life fun! I live in Southern Ohio and we have a large Amish community here, many of whom I consider friends. Will be interested to see what Ohio Amish Romances you chose :)

Puzzles are a great hobby! I do have difficulty keeping my cat off the table when I start one though. I would love to visit Ohio! Just not in winter, that’s when I hibernate.

Oh I get it! I used to have a very naughty (but charming) tabby and doing puzzles was out of the question, lol. Do come to Ohio sometime!

Welcome to Carla’s Book Crush where I share my favorite clean, Christian reads. I review everything from Amish and historical romance to suspense, contemporary fiction, nonfiction, and the occasional devotional. If it has heart, hope, and a message that points back to Christ, it’s probably on my shelf. I also love chatting with authors and featuring interviews that give you a peek behind the pages. Whether you’re looking for a new release, a cozy weekend read, or just something uplifting and well-written, you’re in the right place. Clean stories. Encouraging faith. Books worth reading.
