About the Book

His Boss’s Little Sister by Danielle Grandinetti
Series: Apron Strings Tea Tales
Publisher: Hearth Spot Press
Release Date: November 18, 2025
Genre: Historical Romantic Suspense
Broken hearts, underground smuggling, and a meddling family … one Wisconsin Teehaus offers a love of more than sweet treats.
November 1931—Needing a new start, Samantha Martins escapes the happily-ever-afters of her hometown to take a waitressing position at a German Tea House. But all is not as it appears beneath the pretty trappings. When she discovers illegal oleomargarine on the premises, which could shut down the cafe, and thus cost her job, she goes searching for the source.
Samantha’s old beau, Kyle Docherty, returns to Crow’s Nest a changed man, both inside and out. An apology burning in his heart, he finds she’s left home. However, with trouble on her trail, Samantha’s brother hires Kyle to be her bodyguard. But will she even speak to him? And if not, will she at least allow him to protect her, even without the arm he lost in a logging accident?
When the breadcrumbs lead them into a trap, putting Kyle’s life in danger, Samantha faces an impossible choice: listen to Kyle and run for help, or stay a captive and outwit a criminal. If only the ticking bomb were on their side.
A touch of fairy tale, a spoonful of history, and a teacup of hope.
His Boss’s Little Sister is a stand-alone novella in the Apron Strings Tea Tale multi-author series, and a 1930s historical romance retelling of Hansel and Gretel.
Fans of the Harbored in Crow’s Nest series will enjoy revisiting familiar characters and discovering the HEA of the hero’s little sister from Confessions to a Stranger.

Guest Post by Danielle Grandinetti
I love it when an author includes little glimpses of characters or locations from their other books, and had great fun doing so with His Boss’s Little Sister. Before I share more, these aren’t spoilers nor do you have to read the other books to enjoy His Boss’s Little Sister. However, here’s a bit of background into the story world around Sam and Kyle’s story.
Samantha Martins has two older brothers, David and Patrick. Readers who read my Harbored in Crow’s Nest series will recognize them since they were the heroes from books 1 (Confessions of a Stranger) and 3 (Escape with the Prodigal). It is the fact that both brothers are living their happily ever after that drives Sam to seek employment outside her hometown of Crow’s Nest.
His Boss’ Little Sister is a second chance reunion romance. Sam and Kyle were … friends, more than friends, until they weren’t. This backstory threaded through the Harbored in Crow’s Nest series. What readers never learned was why.
While I wanted to tell Sam’s story, and give her a chance at a happily ever after, the opportunity never came within the confines of the Harbored in Crow’s Nest series. Then as I brainstormed His Boss’s Little Sister I realized this was her chance. Kyle was the lumberjack I needed to represent the woodsman from the original Hansel and Gretel and it was time to find out why he, in modern terms, ghosted her.
I’m thrilled His Boss’s Little Sister has allowed me to off what I hope is a satisfying ending to Sam’s story. But it’s not just an ending, it’s also a beginning.
Before I wrote the Harbored in Crow’s Nest series, I write the Unexpected Protector’s series. This trilogy follows the 1933 dairy strikes that happened in Wisconsin. Because Sam and Kyle are caught in the Oleo Wars, where margarine is illegal in the state of Wisconsin, this provided the perfect opening to show the increasing desperation of dairy farmers. The desperation that eventually led to the deadly strikes.
Again, readers won’t feel lost if they haven’t read any of these books before His Boss’s Little Sister, but it is my hope that this story is also a sweet treat for readers who have been with me for my first two series. Enjoy!
