I love when a short story surprises me, and all three stories in Amish Love Letters had something that made me want more. I typically pick collections like this because at least one favorite author is in the mix, in this case Shelley Shepard Gray, and then find a couple of new authors to love. The three stories each have their own little complication, from Jennie wanting a deeper connection with Matthew to Eddie learning some valuable life lessons about love and being upfront with people about his feelings, and Martha discovering that people can change. I especially liked that these stories showed imperfect families and people who do not always judge others for their past. I would really like to hear more from these characters. Hopefully, this is one of those situations where the novella leads into deeper reading with a longer book.
