February 2025 Wrap Up: Christian Reading and Book Reviews

On February 28th, I stayed up reading so I could get one more book in. No, not really. I loved the book so much that I wanted to finish it while I had the time. So now this post is coming in late for you. But, you know, better late than never. A saying I don’t understand because it really is all about context. I’m sure a bride would choose never if you walk in in the middle of her vows.

I read a total of seven (7) books. Of those, two (2) were paperback and seven (5) were eBooks.

The links below are to the review on Goodreads for consistency. However, you can get to reviews on the blog either by title or by author. You can also find most of the reviews on my Bookstagram account.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about how happy I am that my average pageviews had finally reached over 800 per month. Well, two weeks makes a huge difference. February pageviews reached 2,007. That’s a 30% increase over January. Thank you, my bookish friends! This brings the average monthly total to 919 pageviews per month.

The top five posts by page views in February were:

  1. Misgivings by Anne Gibson: Book Review & Giveaway 273 views
  2. Grandma Ruth Doesn’t Go To Funerals by Sharon Mondragon: Book Review & Giveaway 192 views
  3. Right Before Their Eyes by Carrie Walker: Book Spotlight & Giveaway 179 views
  4. The Novel Adventures of Natalie Daughtry by Susan L. Tuttle: Book Review & Giveaway 165 views
  5. The Hunted Heir by Jayna Breigh: Book Review & Giveaway 120 views

I don’t think it’s just the fact that the posts are giveaways are the only factor in the draw. The prizes were very similar, but Misgivings received 93 more page views than Grandma Ruth. Additionally, the only thing that has changed is that I’m a little better about cross-posting to Instagram. But that still only brought in 32 pageviews this month. I wish I knew the secret.

I’m still not hitting Bookstagram hard other than posting book tours and cross-posting my blog posts over there. I do not go out of my way to get followers over there. I prefer a genuine audience, so I dropped some of the practices, such as follow trains, that I did when I first started on Instagram. I wind up with too many people who read books, particularly open door books, that I just won’t read. Any followers I get stumbled onto me on their own accord. I also do not feel the need to follow everyone back. If I don’t know them from blogging or interactions on Instagram or if I’m not interested in the types of books they read, I just don’t follow. You can see all this by the lacking numbers below.

  • Interactions: 1,063
  • Total followers: 1,553
  • Top posts: (views shown in black)

Not only have I not done any fiber arts this month, I also haven’t watched any of my favorite vlogs – NE Knits, Crazy Sock Lady, plus a couple others that I don’t watch as regularly. I’ve got to find a way to balance knitting, reading, and blogging so that I don’t become burnt out on one or the other. It reminds me of Leah’s recent discussion post on burnout.

Well, that’s a wrap on this wrap…up. Happy reading!

How was your February?

I’m still unsure if I will ever restart my bookstagram this year.

    Gla, your month was awesome!

Do what makes you happy! I haven’t finished a small group that I interact with on Instagram and I don’t want to give that up.

Looks like you had a great reading month in February. Hope March is treating you well too!

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

March has been a little too busy for my taste but I’m making it through.

It looks like a great reading month! I am great about getting my reviews up on my blog, but not as good as getting them up on Instagram. It’s something I want to get better about, but don’t have the time right now.

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

I eventually get them posted on both platforms, just not always at the same time.

You had a wonderful reading month and congrats about the pageviews. Burnout is real, I try to find a balance too or else I get stuck and won’t read, blog or crochet. Enjoy your weekend!

Yes, I need a little time for each hobby.

All 4 -5 stars, you had a great month! I love seeing numbers like that. I tried to squeeze on more in too, but I could not keep my eyes open.

Yes, it really was a good reading month. I really loved everything I read. I was barely able to keep my eyes open but really wanted to finish that book.

Sounds like these were great books!
I think it takes a while to getmany views, slowly but surely.
I enjoyed my February reads as well:

I think it does take time to get views but I’m going to try and stop looking at that so much. I need to distance myself from it.

Good move. The important is that you enjoy writing your blog

You’ve had a great book reading month! Maybe this month you will get some yarning in! I am in a hooky mood at the moment, no sewing being done, and I just got a great book haul, so I see some more reading happening this month! I like that blog post of Leah’s, very true xx

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

So far no knitting time this month but I’m hoping to get there soon. Leah’s post is great!

An Overdue Match looks so good. I added it to my TBR!! I also followed you on Bookstagram. 🙂 I feel like you’ve got a great following with not actively trying. Follow trains… I did one of them and then never again. Everyone just unfollowed the next day. lol I hope you have a lovely March!!

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

I’m glad you have that one on your TBR. I followed you back! I recognized your handle right away. I hope your March is lovely too!

        Thank you!! 🙂

Wowza! Great numbers for February! I also had a surprisingly good month, so maybe something was going around to help balance out all the general craziness <3

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

Maybe everyone wanted to pack as much as they could into the short month. 😂😂

Sometimes life feels like a game of whack-a-mole, where I’m always trying to balance everything and not losing track of what has to be done.

It’s funny that you linked my post on burnout, because since writing that post, I started crocheting again. It’s only a couple of months before my bonus niece’s baby shower, and she is getting the prettiest blanket! But that’s about all I crochet nowadays.

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

Good analogy. It’s so sweet that you’re crocheting the baby blanket. I think handmade gifts are often appreciated more.

      1. Leah's Books Avatar

Yes, all the kids in the family now get crocheted blankets. My five year old great-nephew loved cuddling under the baby blanket while watching TV with us.

An Overdue Match looks like a really cute read. Spring is just around the corner and these are definitely the perfect kinds of books to reach for. I am a crocheter and I love to do it while listening to audiobooks. Don’t know if you’ve given this a try, but it might help you balance all your hobbies. Hope you have a lovely March!

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

I have tried reading an audiobook when I knit. It works okay if I’m doing a simple pattern but not if I’m doing something new. I do have a hard time concentrating on audiobooks so I use them for rereads of old favorites.

  13. Kelsey Gietl Avatar

I finished An Overdue Match yesterday. As a former librarian, I really enjoyed that one!

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

I can see why you’d enjoy it! All the bookish jokes and references were quite cute.

Wow your numbers are very impressive – way to grow! Yours is one of my favorite blogs to visit, always something fun and interesting here. And I agree about finding a balance — I wish I had time for everything, reading, writing, blogging, puzzles, crochet. Sigh.

    1. Carla Bruns Avatar

Thank you so much, Jean! I enjoy all of the interactions we’ve had both here and on your blog.

  15. Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life Avatar

You were on fire in February! What a great month of reading you had! An Overdue Match sounds cute. 🙂

      Thank you, Erin!

Whether you’re looking for a new release, a cozy weekend read, or just something uplifting and well-written, you’re in the right place. Clean stories. Encouraging faith. Books worth reading.
